June 19: Day#2, Bonjour Paris!

We landed in Paris and made it through customs quicker than I thought possible with no questions and a perfuncory stamp to our passports (The first one, Yay!!) Then after claiming our luggage we picked up our rental car and proceeded to make 2 full laps of the airport before finding our way out. Where we really went wrong though was in deciding to take a detour through downtown paris on our way to our host in Saint Cloud. It was utter chaos and we immediately regreted it; we spent a terrifying hour getting lost, getting stuck, and trying to navigate our way back to the freeway. Once we arrived our host told us that Sunday is the absolute busiest day to try and drive in Paris.
We did see a couple of pretty cool buildings though.

A little detour and a lot of traffic....

After 2 hours, we did finally make it to the Paris suburb of Saint Cloud to meet our Couchsurfing host, Florent.
We were warmly welcomed and Florent took us on a walking tour of the area where we are staying, and then served us a lovely dinner of french cheeses with acoutrements, fresh baguettes from the bakery down the street, and delicious french wine, with a ripe juicy tuscan melon for dessert.
After dinner Burt and Florent watched the EuroCup soccer game on TV and now, after a full day.............we are settling down to bed.

A little exploration of our neighborhood....

Bonne nuit!😴💤
