June 22: France Day 5. A quick visit to Versailles and we travel to Bordeaux

We left St. Cloud this morning and stopped at Versailles for a quick visit on our way to the Orly airport. Unfortunately, however, the part of Versailles that I most wanted to see was closed, Marie Antoinette's minature villiage at Petit Trianon. So we just wandered around the palace for a little while admiring the gardens then we were on our way. If I ever return to Paris I will need to set aside at least half a day to see Versailles properly and hopefully remember that many of the sights don't open until noon.

We drove to the Orly airport and had a difficult time figuring out where to get
Gas for the rental car, and then we spent forever trying to find out where the rental return was. Finally, however, we got the car returned and checked in at the airport. Going through security was an adventure. Burt set the metal detectors off with his knees again and had to submit to a fairly thorough pat down, and Bethany forgot to take her shampoo out of her carry on bag so it looked suspicious on the scanner and we had to wait while they searched it.
The flight was short and simple and after about an hour in the air we reached Bordeaux where Louise and her dad Philippe were waiting for us with a homemade sign that said "Ribet".

We settled in at our B&B and then went over to home of Bethany's host family to have dinner and visit with them.
