July 13, Deruta and Perugia - Pottery and Jazz

We decided to explore the towns of Deruta and Perugia today. We had been looking forward to seeing the pottery for which Deruta is well known, and we heard that Perugia was having a jazz festival.

We went to the pottery studio of an artisan who is a friend of Letizia- the woman who owns the agrotourisimo where we stayed.
 He had such beautiful pottery!
He recommended a restaurant next door for lunch where my mom had "the best lasagne ever". It had mushrooms and a truffel béchamel.
After lunch we went to look at a very famous (and very expensive) pottery gallery.

Then we left Deruta for Perugia, making a few stops to take pictures of the fields and a little detour along the way.
On the way to Perugia we stopped in a little town called "San Egidio". My mom had been looking forward to seeing this town because Egidio was her grandfather's name.

Next and last stop of the day- Perugia. The jazz festival was pretty cool. There were people everywhere and several stages and everywhere you went there was music in the streets...🎷🎤
