July 7: Naples, the Amalfi Coast and Couchsurfing Camp.

We took an early taxi to the train station to catch our train to Naples where we waited 2 hours for a bus to "San Lazarro", the small villiage where the couch surfing camp is being held. There were so many couchsurfers on the bus that many of us had to sit on the floor. We have noticed that people dont seem to have the same manners and courtesy in Italy as in France when it comes to public transportation. We were the first ones to the bus stop and were waiting the longest, but we got on last and had to sit on the floor. Nobody gave up their seat for my mom. There isn't the same respect for age on the bus that I would expect to be a common courtesy, and there seems to be no sense of queuing. It is every man for himself and people just run in front of you.

After a 2 hour bus ride we arrived at the hostel where the camp is (we did finally get seats when some people got off after an hour).

There is a combination of tent camping, trailers, dorm rooms and private rooms. We have a private room with 2 twin beds. There is a shared bathroom across the hallway.
There is sn American family staying in the rooms near us. The dad is in the coast guard and they just moved to Naples a few weeks ago. They have girls the same age as Bethany and Robyn.

Group meal area.

When everyone had arrived we had an Apertivo at a bar accross the street all together, then we went for a walk to a casyle ruin on a hill to watch the sunset. Later after dinner there were people in the group playing music and teaching regional Italian folk dances. The music and dancing went until after midnight.  It was a lot of fun and it felt like we were in a gypsy camp.
