June 28: Good bye Bassano!

This morning we packed up, ate a quick breakfast, checked out of our hotel, and walked a few blocks to the train station to catch a train headed for Rome. 

We are currently sitting on a regional train to Venice where we will catch a fast train to Rome. Our train switching time is very tight, so hopefully we will be able to quickly find our playform and get our next train with no problems. Fingers crossed that our train is not delayed. 

 

June 25: Hello Italy!!

We arrived at the venice airport and a car was waiting to take us to Bassano del Grappa, about an hour away.

Yep. Those are my feet. Standing on Italian soil!

 Burt is standing in front of the elevator. That's 

it. The whole thing. The two of us got in and it 

was full.

 Our room. Very comfortable bed. We had to test it out with a little siesta😴💤

We went for a little walk to explore the area.

We stopped at this little shop to get some lunch. 

 

 

The view from the bridge over the river is so 

beautiful. It is like a postcard. 

 

We met Alessandro in the lobby and had a 

proseco toast at the hotel bar, then we stepped 

next door for a traditional cocktail, a mezzo 

mezo, rhubarb liquor and soda water with fresh lime. 

Then Alessandro took us to his house and we 

had a glass of wine and met 2 of his friends 

before going to dinner. 

 

Delicious pizza for dinner. The owner of the 

restaurant has been there serving pizza for 53 

years! He showed us photos from when they 

opened in 1963. 

 

After dinner liquor, Limoncello

After dinner espresso. 

Then we all went  back to the hotel to meet 

Alberta (Alessandro's wife) and Carlotta (Mathilde's sister) for a glass of proseco to 

toast new friendships.
